Over the years,
Pam Griffin has chronicled, in photographs and numerous journals, different
characters and scenarios that have chaptered her life. Throughout this journey,
she has been preoccupied by the development of a personal iconography based on
dreams and memory, a love of collage, layering, translucency, haunting
atmospheres and velvety blacks. Texture, architectural forms, photographic
manipulation and symbolism prevail throughout.
This series of
collages evolved from these documentations and memoirs, and were enlarged in a
digital format. Each piece revolves around
a significant person in Griffin’s life and the incidents, recollections, and
associations generated from that relationship. Fragments of litter and bits of
discarded debris also help to evoke metaphorical energies and dialogues.
Selective memory and recalled sensations help to steer her direction, in hope that
perhaps the specifics of her personal narratives strike a universal chord of
relevance.
